Program Goals & Objectives:

 

Higher Education:

The purpose of the Ponca Nation Higher Education Program includes accomplishing three desired outcomes: 1) strengthen the sovereignty of the Ponca Nation 2 )increase the capacity of its citizens 3) promote Higher Education within the Ponca Nation

The grant selection process is designed to achieve these outcomes.

 

Adult Education:

The mission of the Ponca Nation Adult Education program is to provide financial assistance for comprehensive social, educational & employment programs for the Ponca people. These programs will provide educational & employment opportunities that prepare tribal members for a full active life as a tribal citizen as well as citizens of the United States.

These programs will provide educational & employment opportunities that prepare tribal members for a full active life as a tribal citizen as well as citizen of the United States.

 

The Ponca Nation Education Programs:

  1. Adult Education Program  - Provides training assistance to students that reside in the Kay county jurisdiction and interested in short term training only. The student must have a CDIB and be 1/4 degree of Indian Blood from a federally recognized tribe. The training expenditure cannot exceed six hundred dollars ($600.00) this pays for tuition, books, and fees.

  2. Higher Education Grant Program - Assist students entering college, and is required to be at least 1/4 degree enrolled member with the Ponca Nation of Oklahoma. To apply for these funds, students must submit a complete application to the Higher Education Office no later that June 1st – Fall Semester: December 1st Spring Semester: April 1st Summer School (only if you need credits to graduate for the current semester  Students are required to apply for FAFSA for financial aid.  Grants awarded to students are based upon the Financial Needs Analysis form that is prepared by the Financial Aid Office of the institution that you proposed to attend.

    If a student wishes to receive an associate degree in vocational training, the Higher Education program can assist them in institutions offering their chosen field of study. The institution must be accredited by at least one national accreditation agency and offer an Associate Degree.
