Workforce Investment Act The Ponca Tribe Workforce Investment Act program (WIA) is federally funded by the Department of Labor (DOL). WIA grantees are funded on a two year cycle. The Ponca Tribe receives two grants; the Comprehensive Services and the Supplemental Youth Services program grants. The funding amount awarded for the current PY is 80,815.00 for the Comprehensive Services Program (CSP) and 55,315.00 for the Supplemental Youth Services Program (SYSP) The CSP serves adults age 18 and over, each program year begins July 1 through June 31. The SYSP serves youth age 14-21 with the program year beginning April 1 through March 31.
The Ponca Tribe WIA program will assist individuals in preparing to enter the labor market through core services, allowable intensive services, training services, job development and employment out-reach. The WIA program will serve eligible participants after a personal screening and intake of all eligibility criteria is submitted. After the intake applications process, the client is counseled as to the best approach to take in regard to employment or skill attainment. All required documentation must be in the clients file before services are rendered. The program will serve all eligible clients who are enrolled members of the Ponca Tribe and other Native Americans who asare enrolled members of a federally recognized tribe and reside within the tribes’ service area.
The SYSP assists youth in preparing to enter the labor market through work-experience skills and training necessary to nurture, strengthen and motivate the clients to seek higher education and/or vocational training in the future.
