● Funding Agency – The Ponca Tribe Food Distribution is administered at the Federal level by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
● Funding amount – For the 2007 Fiscal Year, the Ponca Tribe Food Distribution has been approved for a Federal amount of $193,786.00. Of that amount, there is a 25% Tribal match.
● Grant period – The Ponca Tribe Food Distribution is a continuing grant with the period beginning October 1st to September 31st.
● Scope of Work – The service area for the Ponca Tribe Food Distribution Program consists of four (4) full counties and portions of two (2) counties. They are located in the North central part of Oklahoma and are the counties of Kay, Noble, Grant, Garfield and the northern portion of Logan County from State Highway 33 to the northern county line. Additionally, we have the Northern portion of Payne County from State Highway 51 north to the county line.
Located in the boundaries of said counties are the following tribes: The Ponca, Otoe-Missouria, Tonkawa and Kaw. The Ponca Tribe Food Distribution Program also serves all other federally recognized tribes that reside within these counties. ● Goals and objectives – The Ponca Tribe Food Distribution Program serves as an alternative to the Food Stamp Program and is able to help those families that do not reside within the city limits of Ponca City and meet our income standards that are set by the USDA/FNS.
● Deliverables – Each month participating households receive a food package to help them maintain a nutritionally balanced diet. Participants may select from over 70 products including: Frozen ground beef and chicken; canned meats, poultry and fish; Fresh fruits and vegetables; Canned fruits and vegetables; Canned soups and spaghetti sauce; Macaroni and cheese; pastas; cereals; rice; and other grains; cheese; egg mix; nonfat dry and evaporated milk; flour; cornmeal; bakery mix; reduced sodium crackers; refried beans; dried beans; dehydrated potatoes; canned juices and dried fruits; peanuts and peanut butter; corn syrup; butter; vegetable oil and shortening.
● Staffing Patterns – The Ponca Tribe Food Distributions hours of operation are 8:00 am to 11:30 am. and 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. We make monthly schedules of the days we’ll be open and have them available at the Tailgate sites and main warehouse.
